Global We at COP27
November 2022
Most people aren’t involved in the conversations and decisions directly impacting their own lives and communities.
Decision-makers rarely have the chance to hear the stories and experiences of those at the frontlines of climate change or from the ones who are most affected.
We want to change that.
Through the Global We portals, UN Live and IKEA Foundation are bringing the voices of people on the frontline of climate change directly into the heart of climate conversations at COP27 – to allow a greater number of people to connect, inspire the negotiations and engage in action.
We are bringing the voices of the many to COP27
We will connect participants across the world to build a more inclusive climate conversation around COP27
FROM TEN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AROUND THE WORLD, we invite in new perspectives to the heart of the climate negotiations. Participants at connecting sites include:
Climate activists and experts with strong engagement in the climate issue, knowledge of climate challenges and opportunities, and who organize and mobilize local communities.
People who are disproportionately affected by climate change or are community members of organisations that represent groups of affected populations (e.g., women, youth, displaced persons, indigenous people etc.).
Entrepreneurs who are working with, and exploring, solutions to tackle climate challenges.
FROM THE COP27 BLUE ZONE, we invite in ‘formal leaders’ of the world who are taking part in the COP27 negotiations, including:
Public decision-makers, incl. national delegations to COP27, local, regional, and national decision-makers, who can inform and affect the climate negotiations and decision-making for their own constituencies.
Business leaders (C-suite) who can drive forward climate solutions and action the recommendations coming from the conversations through business decisions, investments and network.
Leaders of INGOs, NGOs and global agencies – including UN agencies – who use their position in the international community to lead on the issue.
